DescriptionJoe Cook wears a dark blazer with a striped tie and looks toward the right of the frame. His dark hair is cut short and the portrait is taken from the chest upward.A newspaper clipping is pasted to the back of the photograph and it reads, "Joe Cook, one of the three players to outscore Isaiah King while the latter set and broke numerous records at St. Augustine, went for the sure thing recently when he decided to remain at the University of Albuquerque rather than sign a professional contract. The former Xavier Prep All-City cage star in 1963 has been in contact with the American Basketball Association and Industrial League teams as each would like to have the sharpshooting playmaker for the 1967-68 season. Cook's answer was no as he will return to the New Mexico school so that he can graduate next year with a major in chemistry. The 6-0, 178-pound guard scored ahead of King in 1963 with a total of 449 to 437 points. This was the year Ernest Laurent, who also attended U. of Albuquerque, captured the scoring crown with 542-points. W. L. Cohen's Willie Morris scored 511 points as the runnerup to King."
