DescriptionAn altarpiece with three panels depicting the war between Spain and Mexico in the late 1500s.. It includes the encoundter of Hernan Cortes and the Aztec Emperor Moctezuma. The left and right panels include two scenes each; the top left image is comprised of an Aztec warrior cutting off the head of a horse and the bottom image is a rendering of "La Noche Feliz," when Spanish soldeirs attempted to block the routes to the city of Tenochtitlan. The Aztec warriors are shown fighting off the Spaniards. The right includes images of a soldier and an attack dog and the bottom image shows Aztecs and Spaniards cutting trees and carrying a boat. The center panel includes three scenes, the top scene includes an Aztec figure and Spanish figure looking at a DNA double helix. The middle panel is a depiction of the encounter when Cortes and Moctezuma met. La Malinche is near the center. The bottom panel shows the body of Christ with his feet on fire and one Aztec figure holding up a heart.On View
