Description1. We are on our way again, this time to Carrizozo. The interest in this trip lies along the road, on each side of which are lava beds. This black, fissured lava has fascinated travelers for many years.

2. Malpais (Bad Lands) Lava beds! This great lava flow is one of the most recent in the U.S. some of the formations appear as though they had bubbled forth only yesterday.

3. These formation seem to be an illustration. The rough surfaced lava flows seriously obstructed travel. Geological & archeological evidence suggest an age for these volcanic eruptions at approximately 1,500 years.
