The Fiesta de Santa Fe is typically held annually the first week of September to commemorate the Reconquest or Reconquista of New Mexico by Diego de Vargas in 1692 and 1693 after the 1680 Pueblo Revolt, which was the first successful Native American independence movement under colonial rule. Activities during the Fiesta included the Hysterical Parade, Historical Parade, Pet Parade, Entrada, and the Burning of Zozobra.
