DescriptionThis object is a ceramic canteen or pitcher shaped to resemble a bird. The object has a wide, circular base with a looped handle attached to the upper sides. Small, folded wings have been painted on the sides of the object, while a repeating design of short, diagonal lines has been painted on top of the handle. A large bird head emerges from the front of the object, with a small spout located in its mouth. Its eyes, beak, and ears have all been coated in black slip. Repeating, geometric designs wrap around the bird's neck and can also be seen along the bird's back and just above the base of the object. A small, painted tail emerges from the back of the object.
