DescriptionLou Feltz, left, and Ben Blackwell, two Atomic Energy Commission officials, check an egg-beater-shaped vertical axis wind turbine on top of a building at Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The turbine's wings are above a platform and both men are standing near the base of the platform and looking up at the turbine. Blackwell uses a tool pressed to a small box on the side of the platform. A caption on the back of the photograph reads, "The AEC is testing the device to determine if it would be feasible for generating electricity in areas such as the Great Plains where the wind blows regularly and with sufficient velocity."
