Description5. the Statehouse with an Observation Tower! It was in the House of Representatives Chamber where we saw the N.M. Flag.

6. On the N.M. Flag is emblazoned the ancient sun symbol of the Zia Pueblo of Indians, in red on a yellow field. The colors represent the Spanish flag, recalling that N.M. was once Spanish territory.

7. A view of Santa Fe from the Observation Tower.

8. The Palace of the Governors was built during years 1610(?)-12, after Spaniards moved to Santa Fe, as a fortress & headquarters for the Kingdom of N.M. Lew Wallace, one of N.M.'s governors, wrote part of "Ben Hur" in the Palace. Today this charming adobe building, with picturesque portal & great dignity, is serving as hdqs (headquarters) for the Museum of New Mexico.
