DescriptionThese are two panoramic illustrations, of Prague and Cheb, on a single page. This is part of the Civitates Orbis Terrarum, a series of published town atlases. The upper illustration is of Prague and shows the city center on top of a hill, located mostly on the left side. Around the center and down the hill to the right are clusters of smaller buildings. At the center top, inside a frame bordered in red on three sides, it says, "PRAGA, BOHEMIAE/METROPOLIS ACCV/RATISSIME EXPRESSA." On either side of the frame, printed over the sky above the city, is the word "PRA[title frame]GA." The lower half of the page shows the city of Egra, today known as Cheb (or Eger, in German). In the center is a church or other building with two tall spires. There is a bridge to the left of this building that goes over a river surrounding two sides of the city. In the sky above the city it says, "EGRA." In the lower left corner, there is a frame bordered in red on two sides, and in it it says, "EGRA vrbs a fluuio cui/adiacet, dicta olim imperio Ro/mano, hodie vero Bohemiae/regno fubiecta: Ptolemaeo Mo:/nosgada vocatur Jaa.."On View
