Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the United States from 1913 to 1921, with his background being the former president of Princeton University from 1902-1910, and governor of New Jersey from 1911 to 1913, won his re-election for a second term against Republican opponent Charles Evan Hughes (1862-1948). Wilson's establishment of the Federal Reserve System, his involvement within the League of Nations, foreign policies, labor and economic policies, and development of progressive support in the Southwest significantly impacted the U.S., notably its relations with Mexico.
