Jerry Ingram

BiographyBorn in 1941 in Battiest, Oklahoma, Jerry Ingram grew up on his parent's farm and went to a one-room school house. For high school, he attended Chilocco Indian School and then attended a semester at the Institute of American Indian Arts in 1963. His father was a logger and Ingram originally considered studying agriculture and a career as a lumberjack before focusing on art. He earned his bachelor's in commercial art from Oklahoma State Tech at Okmulgee, Oklahoma in 1966 and then moved to Albuquerque where he worked as a graphic designer and illustrator while painting. He also works with lithographs, serigraphs, bronze sculptures, and acrylics. Today his work is in collections including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the Heard Museum in Phoenix, and the Philbrook Art Center.
