Betty Ford

Betty Ford (1918-2011) was the First Lady of the United States from 1974 to 1977, married to President Gerald Ford. Known for her candidness and advocacy, she became a prominent figure in raising awareness about breast cancer after revealing her own diagnosis and mastectomy in 1974. In 1982, she co-founded the Betty Ford Center, a renowned treatment facility for addiction and substance abuse. Ford was also an outspoken advocate for women's rights, mental health, and addiction recovery.
