Harvey B. Fergusson

Harvey B. Fergusson (1848-1915) played a crucial role in New Mexico's political landscape. He actively represented the Territory in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1897 to 1899 and served as a dedicated member of the Democratic National Committee from 1894 to 1908. Fergusson left a strong political legacy through being elected as New Mexico’s At-Large representative in the U.S. House from 1912 until his death in 1915. Fergusson played an essential role in advocating for New Mexico's statehood while helping to lay out the foundations for the state's early political frameworks and focused on issues regarding natural resources and infrastructure, specifically during New Mexico's transformation from a territory to a state.
