BiographySanborn Company was founded in 1917 by Dr. Frank B. Sanborn, a retired professor of civil engineering at Tufts University. It began by producing a water level recorder but then began making a blood-pressure tester and metabolism tester and the company began focusing on the field of medical instrumentations. In 1924, the first Sanborn electrocardiograph was introduced and became the most widely known instrument Sanborn manufactured. The company expanded into the electronics field in 1935 and started making industrial instruments in 1949. It was acquired by HP in 1961.
