James B. King

James B. King was born in 1951 in Shiprock, New Mexico. King’s artistic ability was encouraged and supported early in life by his family and teachers. He began experimenting with painting as a youngster using shoe polish and house paints. After graduating from art school in Salt Lake City, King went on to pursue his artistic career. He won the Best of Show at the Heard Museum in 2002. In 2005, he won the Best of Category at both the Santa Fe Indian Market and the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial.
