Charles Edward Rodgers, known as Buddy Rodgers, was an American film actor and musician who was at the peak of his career during the silent film era. Rodgers began his acting career in the mid-1920s and one of his best-known rolls was opposite Clara Bow in the 1927 film Wings, the first film to win Best Picture from the Academy Awards. Also a skilled musician on the trombone as well as several other instruments, Rodgers also performed in bands for motion pictures and on radio. He was the third husband of actress Mary Pickford, to whom he was married for 42 years until her death in 1979.
