BiographyAn artist working in engraving, painting, and sculpture, Meximo Javier incorporates traditional and fantastic elements from popular beliefs and stories from Mexico and Central American. Javier was born in Valle Nacional Oaxaca, Mexico in 1948. He studied at the Escuela de Belles Artes de Oaxaca and was a founding member of the workshop of Rufino Tamayo in Oaxaca. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, the National Bank of Mexico in Mexico City, and the University of Iowa Museum of Art.
