Dan Rizzie was born in 1951 in Poughkeepsie, New York and grew up in India, Egypt, Jordan, and Jamaica. He studied art at Hendrix College in Arkansas before getting his M.F.A. from Southern Methodist University. He is a painter, printmaker, and collage artist whose works contain layers of materials and symbolism. His work in the permanent collections of many museums including the Museum of Modern Art, Dallas Museum of Art, and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
