Sophy Naess
Sophy Naess (b. 1982) works with painting, printmaking, weaving, and writing. She currently works between New York City and New Haven, Connecticut where she is a critic in Painting and Printmaking at Yale. Naess received a B.F.A. in painting from Cooper Union in 2004 and an M.F.A. in painting from Rutgers University in 2013. Before Yale, she taught at schools including Konsthögskolan Valand in Gothenburg, Sweden, and at Cooper Union. Her work has appeared in group shows at Hercules, The New School, Chapter NY, and Matthew Marks Gallery in New York City. She has been artist in residence at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York, The Shandaken Project in New York, The Brooklyn Arts Council's SU CASA program at the Bay Ridge Senior Center in Brooklyn, The Range in Colorado, and Sikås Art Center in Sweden.
