Little House Diner1942 - 1992
The Little House Diner, a steel prefabricated building that could fit on the back of a flatbed truck or a rail car, was made in 1938 by the Valentine Manufacturing Co. in Wichita, Kan., said Community Service Aide Russ Thompson, a retired police officer. The building was ordered out of a catalog.
Joe and Della Hernandez operated the diner from 1942 to 1992 on the corner of Eighth and Central before donating it to the Albuquerque Museum, Thompson said. It was moved to Triangle Park and opened as a police substation in 1997.
