A previer landscape and figurative painter of the second half of the twentieth century born in Yonkers, New York, John Heliker was a professor of Art at Columbia Univeristy and also taught at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Art Students League, the New York Studio School, and Parsons School of Design. He exhibited nationally with major exhibitions at museums including Carnegie Institute and the Whitney museum of American Art.
