Not on viewInternational travel was a component of the fellowship that Earl Stroh was awarded by the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, which supported his travels to South America in the late 1940s and to Paris in the 1950s. One of the destinations that Stroh found himself in was Bolivia, where the natural scenery and formidable landscapes inspired the artist to fill multiple sketchbooks and to create this painting. The subject of this painting is Illimani, the highest mountain in the Cordillera Real subrange of the Andes Mountains in Western Bolivia.
