DescriptionThis brown paper laundry bag from the Alvarado Hotel, open in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, between 1902 and 1970, provides a glimpse into the convenience and services offered to travelers in the 20th century. The red text on the front of the bag is printed in bold, reading: "GOOD MORNING / PLEASE PLACE YOUR LAUNDRY SLIP INSIDE THE BAG / THE ALVARADO HOTEL / DELIGHTFUL LIVING / ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO / SERVICE BY THE IMPERIAL LAUNDRY CO. / LAUNDRY, DRY CLEANING / COLD FUR STORAGE." The Alvarado Hotel, a hub of luxury and travel in Albuquerque at this time, was a landmark stop along the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway. Having an associated laundry service, like Imperial Laundry Co., reflected the hotel’s commitment to providing first-class amenities for its guests, including efficient one-day service from a prominent local business. On View
