DescriptionThis copper hammered jug features a handle and encompasses a high, rounded shoulder tapering to almost straight sides. The jug also showcases a small, slightly flared spout that is soldered at the center top. The shoulder of the jug is also decorated with an unevenly executed fret of brass inlay. A simple strap handle of copper is riveted to the body of the jug. Possibly serving as a cooking tool, storage for water, or for domestic decorative purposes, the jug likely played a useful role in everyday life during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Significant patina is present throughout the jug's surface, showcasing its usage over time.
