DescriptionThis ceramic sugar bowl encompasses a cylindrical form and includes a rounded, scalloped edge on the bottom. The outer border of the top portion of the bowl includes a light blue pattern of leaves connected to a vine, separated by a pattern of small, decorative emblems composed of dots, reminiscent of a flower motif. The uppermost side of the level design pattern includes a wavy blue line, serving as a thin frame, contouring the rounded upper edge. The border on the bottom-most edge of the bowl also showcases a wavy line in the same blue color, accompanied by a patterning of several small dots, likely configuring a flower motif, separated by slightly larger dots, likely representing leaves. The underside of the bowl includes a small emblem reading "Syracuse", referring to its manufacturer, Syracuse Pottery Company. Additionally, what appears to be handwritten or stamped text is visible on the bottom surface, although partially erased, likely due to aging. From what is legible, the words "Hotel" and "Albuquerque / 1970" are visible. This text represents the bowl's usage in Albuquerque's renowned twentieth-century Alvarado Hotel before its destruction in 1970, perhaps incorporated in the hotel's dining room.
