DescriptionThis promotional metal button features a vibrant yellow base color with an off-white color in the center. At the top, the pin boldly announces "Albuquerque's 250th Ann'ry," while the center highlights the "Dukes of Albuquerque" in striking black lettering, accompanied by a black-lined illustration of a man refraining from shaving his beard. The date, "July 4-14, '56," appears at the bottom. City Commission Chairman Maurice Sanchez, serving from 1954-1962, promoted the Dukes of Albuquerque organization, which aimed to gather over twenty-thousand men sporting any type of "facial foliage" to celebrate the city's 250th anniversary, called "Enchantorama." They sought to recreate the looks of Albuquerque as it was in 1706. During the summer celebration, community members received this promotional membership pin and a souvenir certificate for a $1 membership fee during the summer celebration. On View
