DescriptionA red square cloth with fringe around the sides and the bottom with fur holes at the top for a lance. The embroidered standard contains the Bourbon Spanish coat-of-arms with symbols for Spanish possessions in Spain, Austria, Burgundy, Tyrol, Brabant, Parmas and Flanders. It is surmounted by the royal crown and surrounded by the knightly order of the Golden Fleece. These standards were commonly used in army regiments, carried by sergeants or corporals. The coat of arms shows the Spanish impacts on the founding of Albuquerque and the founding of the state of New Mexico as a colonial project based in land grabbing practices. On View
