DescriptionThis object is a small speculum used during a variety of medical procedures to observe the interior of cavities. The object is comprised of two, funnel-shaped blades that point perpendicularly to the central stem. The blades are connected by outwardly-bowed stems to the central body of the object. The object operates by sliding two metal components against each other to move the blades. A socket for a thumb screw emerges from the center of the object's body, allowing the position of the blades to be locked into place. There is very little corrosion visible aside from some minor discoloration around the blades.On View
