DescriptionThis large brass skeleton key for a house features an oval hollow top of the handle, a ridged design in the shaft, and a squared bit of the key after the raised shoulder. It also has a metal wire wound around the handle of the key and through a punched hole in the attached tag. The tag reads, "This key one of the original keys of the Franz Huning House used by him in 1878 when he came to Old Town of Albuquerque when he purchased that house when he came here on that date. [It was built years before] that. / 1801 West Central Avenue." The reverse of the tag contains the handwritten text: "Albuquerque New Mexico, 4/1/1935," 1935 / 1848 / 87 years old / [unreadable text]." There is a clipping crudely cut from a printed publication and stuck on to the tag with information about the Ferguson Place on West Central between the city and Old Town and how Dr. David C. Twichell purchased the place that was Franz Huning home before the Fergusson ownership in 1848. A handwritten note below read: "This clipping was in the Journal 20 years ago and was published November 24, 1915."
