DescriptionFour men prepare to run a race around a track at the New Mexico Territorial Fairgrounds near the intersection of West Railroad Avenue and Rio Grande Boulevard in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A man holds a starting gun over his head behind the four runners. Spectators line the fence to watch the race. The spires of San Felipe de Neri Church in Old Town are in the background. In the distant background are the Sandia Mountains.

Railroad Avenue's name was changed around 1908 to what is now Central Avenue. Central Avenue also overlaps with the historic Route 66.
