Description15. Another part of the parade in the Plaza. One of Frank's college student was driving this carriage. 16. An important part of the "educational industry" in Socorro is the N.M. Institute of Mining and Technology. Besides Socorro College, established 1889, the Institute has 2 other divisions: State Bureau of Mines & Mineral Resources; and Research and Development Center.
17. The Research and Development Building! This division conducts geophysical research of thunderstorms, micro-earthquakes, ground water hydrology, & related fields.
18. The Research Division also maintains a large explosives test area where special classified work is done for the U.S. Navy and other agencies.
