DescriptionA miniature polychrome ceramic jar with several bands of distinct motifs. From top to bottom, the jar features alternating bands of orange and white, a black-and-white checkerboard motif, additional bands of orange and white, and a butterfly design. The foot and inner lip of the vessel's mouth are painted orange.

Indigenous Art, Culture, and Community: Works from the Ruth and Sydney Schultz Collection

Thomas Natseway is known for his miniature pots which are replicas of pottery styles from many different Pueblos. A single miniature pot may require only one drop of paint or pigment to decorate the entire thing. Many of these examples are replicas of ancient styles of pottery while others use unique forms of Natseway’s own imagination made over 17. The Schultzes collected Natseway’s pottery regularly and he created this custom stand to display this incredible assortment.
