Dust Devil

pastel on paper

Eddie Dominguez’s formidable dust devil overshadows the surrounding houses and trees. Through his loose and soft mark-making, the artist emulates the motions of the wind and the feel of dust; familiar to most residents of New Mexico. Crossing between different media from ceramics, sculpture, drawing and painting, Dominguez creates artwork that is informed by his love of the land, a sense of nostalgia for his home state of New Mexico, and themes addressing culture and social issues.
