DescriptionThe Poor People's March through Albuquerque, New Mexico. Leading the march, from left: Mad Bear Anderson, Reies López Tijerina, and Beamon Logan. Behind the men are marchers walking and riding bicycles as they walk down the street. They are crossing the railroad tracks. One person carries a photograph of the recently assassinated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and another person carries a sign that reads, "Equality When?". A caption on the back of the photograph reads, "Spanish land grant independence leader Reies Tijerina (center) was flanked by two Indian chiefs as he led more than 850 people on a “Poor Peoples March” through Albuquerque slums. With Tijerina were Mad Bear Anderson (on left), chief of the Tuscarora Indians, and Beamon Logan, a Seneca."On View
