DescriptionFive prisoners huddle in blankets while looking through a chain-link fence at the New Mexico State Penitentiary in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Coils of barbed wire are in the foreground. One of the prison buildings is behind the men. Two typed captions are on the back of the photograph, one longer one in French and one shorter one in English which reads, "SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO Prisoners huddled in blankets stare through the fence at the New Mexico State Pentitentiary. Rioting began on Feb. 2 and lasted for 36 hours. Over 50 inmates are believed dead as a result of teh bloodbath.
