DescriptionThis luncheon menu is for the Hilton Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The menu has a reproduction of a Willard Andrews painting of the Spanish arriving in New Mexico on it, with a green leafed background. Along the left side of the menu, oriented vertically, is printed "HILTON." Below this are the words: "HOTEL/IN/ALBUQUERQUE." Below this is the Hilton Hotel logo, and under it is the phrase "AROUND THE WORLD." Above the illustration, in the upper right corner is the word "Luncheon." The Andrews painting depicts Fray Marcos standing on top of a cliff overlooking a valley. To his left is a Native person holding a cross and beyond him, conquistadors holding banners. Below the painting it says, "FRAY MARCOS GAZES UPON CIBOLA." On the reverse side of the menu is an explanation of the Fray Marcos story: "FRAY MARCOS GAZES UPON CIBOLA/In 1539, the Friar Marcos de Niza, on a/northern tour of exploration from/Mexico, came into New Mexico to see/from afar the Pueblo of Hawaikuh, and/ thought he saw the fabled Seven Cities/of Cibola."

One of Albuquerque's first high-rise hotels, the Hilton Hotel was located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Second Street and Copper Avenue in Albuquerque.
