DescriptionThis metal magneto, intended for starting an engine, originates from the Speakerman collection of the Splitdorf Company. Recognized for its manufacturing of magnetos, lighting systems, spark plugs, and other electrical products, its operations in Newark, New Jersey. and in Canada produced radios throughout the 1920s. This magneto, a device utilized for a variety of machines, generates its own electrical current, making it a useful inclusion in aircraft engines. The device itself appears to be painted black and includes an arc-shaped central body, while a circular base likely helps to support it, along with the gear mechanism visible beneath it. A possible mounting bracket is visible on one side, while a lever appears in the center.
