DescriptionThis piece of art was created by Fred R. Wilson in 1973 using wood and ceramic tile. It features a large wooden circle with seven evenly spaced circular ceramic tiles set into its surface. Together, the tiles form an image of a tree, symbolizing the spirit of life and birth. The tree stands beneath a deep blue sky with a large white cloud overhead, while the foreground includes detailed depictions of shrubs, grass, and a tree trunk. Fred R. Wilson was a prominent figure in the African American art community and founded the New Mexico African-American Artists' Guild.
