DescriptionA dance shell pendant of spiny oyster shell, turquoise, jet, and ivory meant to be suspended from a necklace traditionally worn in dance ceremonies, this small pendant is only 1-5/8 inches (4.1 cm) in diameter but includes an extraordinary range of mosaic tiles made of precious stones (turquoise, jet) and ivory. Such small-scale, labor-intensive work is characteristic of Kewa (Santo Domingo) artist Ava Marie Coriz.
