DescriptionModel T Speedster, customized 1920−40; modern restoration; metal, glass, rubber, plastic. Made by the Ford Motor Company, originally black.This Ford Model T Speedster began life as a Roadster, which originally included a top but no doors. The first owner converted it to a Speedster around 1919. Even though the Speedster has only two gears -- forward and reverse -- it can reach speeds up to 60 miles an hour. Designer Henry Ford boldly moved the steering wheel to the left side, so that passengers could get out onto a clean curb. The ornamental cap on the radiator doubles as a temperature gauge. For night driving, the front headlamps are lit with carbide and the side lamps are kerosene operated.
