DescriptionA street scene of west Gold Avenue in New Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Cobb's photographic studio is in the center at 210 West Gold Avenue, with signs reading, "COBB'S STUDIO." In the glass store window to its right reads, "REAL ESTATE, LOANS & FIRE INSURANCE. NOTARY PUBLIC. L.B. THOMPSON.," and a bank next door with, "THE MODEL BANKING CO." in its windows. To the left of Cobb's Studio's is a furniture store with window writing reading, "JOHN W. LEWIS FURNITURE." There is a man standing in the doorway of Cobb's Studio wearing a bowler hat, high, stiff separable, white collar, and wool, knee length coat. Bicycles are leaned against electric poles and store fronts. Shufflebarger's Bargain Store at 214 West Gold Avenue is at the far right of the image. The street is unpaved with electric poles lining the sidewalk.

New Town was one of the first Anglo settlements on Tiwa land in what is now Albuquerque, established about two miles east of Albuquerque's first Hispanic city center (contemporary Old Town). New Town spanned the railyards district and a few blocks west in Albuquerque's downtown.

Emulsion deterioration is occurring on the glass plate causing distortion and image loss.
