El Cuerpo de Christo depicts a striking, literal interpretation of the iconic San Francisco de Asís Mission Church in Ranchos de Taos as the body of Christ. The church takes on a new identity in Paul Pletka’s painting, which does not seek to imbue the scene with the serene energy that characterizes so many well-known portrayals of the church.
