DescriptionSurgeon's kit, box and lid (with tools assigned individual numbers), mahogany, brass.

    M. L. Amick (1843-1904) was a Union surgeon from Cincinnati who served in the Civil War. Amick received the kit - a type that was used by the U. S. Army during the war - as a gift from a grateful patient.

A nearly complete set, it is one of the largest and most comprehensive Civil War-era kits in a museum collection. Amick's descendant, Gwyn Fair Ellis, is an Albuquerque resident.
