Label Text:This map of the western territories originally accompanied the first edition of Josiah Gregg's classic book on the Santa Fe Trade, Commerce of the Prairies the coloration of the map makes it difficult to read, but New Mexico is in the lower left-hand portion. The Santa Fe Trail is marked "Regular Route of the Santa Fe Caravans" and runs through the center of the map.
