The range of knowledge about Spanish Louisiana and what is not Arizona was limited in the period before Mexican independence. A large section of Arizona is labeled "unknown parts," in contrast to the relatively good depiction of New Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley. The camp pictured in this print is believed to have been a few miles north of present Amarillo, Texas on the Llano Estacado.
