    DescriptionThis map depicts North America in 1848, the year the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the war. Texas is claiming land east of the upper Rio Grande, placing Albuquerque squarely in what is now the Lone Star State. Texas gave up its claim to New Mexico in the Compromise of 1850.
