    DescriptionHelmet, sallet, or salade, German, steel, c. 1475. North Italian-type (celata) of head piece. The skull-piece is flattened and has a low comb of rectangular section with a hollow groove running down the center. The tail piece is composed of one plate riveted to the back border of the skull piece. The hinged bellows visor which is attached by large rivets contains oblong apertures forming the ocularia below which are pierced ridges for ventilation. The visor is secured by a push button, riveted hinge on the lower left side.
