DescriptionThis Spanish escopeta also known as a light musket or fusil is made of walnut catalan stock wood with relief carvings and a prominent hook at the toe of the butt. It has a steel barrel and is .69 caliber. Few of these weapons have survived the period. This particular piece was manufactored the same year of the genocidal battle between the Spanish Governor Juan Bautista de Anza's forces against the Comanche Nation. Just a century prior, the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 had drove Spanish forces out.
