Label Text:Paul Feeley was among the earliest artists labeled Hard Edge, and helped define its look. At a time when Pop Art was emerging as a dominant cultural force, Feeley brought a similar sense of humor and play to his nonetheless rigorous, non-objective abstraction. Motifs and color schemes of his mature style, of which Maia is a classic example, unpretentiously resemble toys and commercial design, but always elude precise definition or references.
