DescriptionA bulto of a santo of Christ on the cross refered to as Cristo Crucificado. Carved from cottonwood and decorated by the technique of gesso and tempera paint. The figures eyes are open and wrists are tied with leather to the cross behind him. There is a painted design on the cross and blood on the areas of which the figure would have been punctured in real life such as the feet and palms of the hands.

This bulto was collected by noted architect Bainbridge Bunting in Rodarte, New Mexico. A Harvard graduate, he was a historian of architecture and published on New Mexican style buildings and structures. Bunting was also a faculty in the University of New Mexico Art Department.
