DescriptionFather Luis Jaramillo watches as people and their animals walk by him as he conducts The Blessing of the Animals Ceremony in front of San Felipe de Neri Church in Old Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Young boys stand on either side of the priest, wearing their altar boy robes. One holds a bowl of water for the priest to use during the ceremony. The priest holds the aspergillum. A group of people and animals are in line along North Plaza Street. A woman carrying a bird cage is near the right of the frame, and behind her walks a woman in a polka-dot dress carrying a Chihuahua with a small sombrero on its head.
